Town of

Notices
were sent to our townÕs elected, appointed officials and other interested
people, asking for information to put into this issue. The following are
responses that were received.

MEMO FROM THE TOWN SUPERVISOR:
I
would like to thank Joyce Samonek on a fantastic job with our previous Town
Talk issues! Her time and devotion was greatly appreciated. We wish
her the best of luck in her future endeavors.
If
anyone is interested in heading the future Town Talk issues, please contact Sue
Patnode or myself at 846-7544 Ext. 1.
Spring is here and ahead is a
very busy schedule. I would like to thank the Town Highway Department for a
great job during a very tough snowy winter.
We have assessed upgrades that
are desperately needed in the Chazy, West Chazy, and Sciota
Recreation parks and will begin work on them in the upcoming months. Nice
changes are on the way! Clean
up and maintenance of our facilities has begun. We will be building a new
bathroom, storage area, and concession area, all in one building, at the
Chazy Recreation Park. We hope to have it completed to be able to utilize
it by Old Home Day.
We have installed new computers
in our Town Office utilizing a central server. This networked system
will allow all users to work off same system and eliminate individual systems that
need upgrading every few years.
Youth summer sports programs are
soon beginning. I would like to welcome Mr. Jim Lucas as the Ònew youthÓ baseball
coordinator. He is new at this position and wishes to make this a pleasurable
experience for our youth.
He will appreciate any support and help that you can give him.

I look forward to seeing you at
Old Home Day on Sunday, July 27th!
Remember that this annual event is always the last Sunday in July.
Please remember to take a look at
our new website at www.townofchazy.com. Please
send us your ideas on ways to improve it. Also please feel free to use it
to post your groups upcoming events! I hope you all have a wonderful summer!

MEMO FROM TOWN COUNCILMAN:
Just
a quick note to wish everyone in town a great summer and remind them that the
town offers some great summer and fall programs. Summer swimming lessons
are a great idea for the kids and Chazy and West Chazy both offer many
Baseball, Softball and Soccer teams.
Also a reminder to anyone who
notices a street light out or flickering near their home, call NYSEG and report
it. They will send someone out to repair the light. The number to
call is 1-800-572-1111, follow the prompts and they will ask you the closest
street address and the number off the pole if it has one.
I also encourage everyone to
attend the Town Board Meetings every 2nd Monday of the month at 7:00PM. If you can't make it, they are on Home
Town Cable................
Thanks to Calvin and Sam
Castine!!

MEMO FROM
TOWN COUNCILMAN:
It is an honor to be here as your
newest member of our Town Council.
It is a pleasure to be able to tell you, once again, how much I
appreciate all the support I received from family, friends and you, the voters,
during my campaign. I know that
you put in long days and must wonder if anyone has really noticed or paid
attention to your concerns. I can honestly
tell you that I have. Since taking
office in January 1, 2008 I have brought many of your concerns to the board for
discussion. Please come to the meetings
if you can, if not for just your general interest.
Our success as a town should
focus on the world as a changing place.
It is time that we prepare for the future that is in store. We have got to have an open mind, do
our research and we will find that in our town, we must embrace the changing
times in order to have success.
Every time we sit down and talk about a goal, we push to achieve success
in our town.
I
am still in the learning stages of my new job but I am here if you should need
me.

I
may not have the answer you would like to hear or have the answer for you on
the spot, but I will be more than happy to find and get the answer for you.
Once again, thank you.

MEMO FROM
CHAZY VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPT:
As the newly elected Fire Chief,
it is my honor and privilege to work side-by-side with the men and women of the
West Chazy Fire Department. Through their time and talents, their dedication to
duty, and their commitment, they provide the utmost quality of
service to our community.
The Department currently has 31
active firefighters. These
firefighters are dedicated individuals who give their time and talent and ask
nothing in return. We meet on a
weekly basis and train at least twice a month. Your
volunteers are committed to those of you that live and work in our response
area. We will continue to focus on community education and safety.
We provide first response to medical emergencies with our Emergency Medical
Technicians, and provide protection of fires, hazardous materials and
heavy-duty rescue incidents. Our Volunteers also provide these services
to the adjoining communities in Clinton County.
In closing, I would like to congratulate West ChazyÕs newest line
officers, Jim Garrant 1st Assistant, Todd Nephew 2nd
Assistant, and Rick Morrison JR 3rd Asst/EMS. I would also like to thank all of the
Volunteer firefighters for their dedication, exemplary performance and
professionalism that they display every day.
If you have more interest in the West Chazy Fire Department, and feel
you might make a great addition to our team, please feel free to contact us
through our website at www.westchazyfiredepartment.com, see any West Chazy
firefighter, or stop down to the fire station any Monday night.

MEMO FROM
CHAZY TOWN HISTORIAN:
The HistorianÕs Office has been
reasonably busy so far this year with several inquiries for genealogy, building
information and events. We have
had several donations of pictures and artifacts, which will enhance our
collection. We continue to look
for pictures and stories of the past.
A big thank you to all those
donors and a special thank you to Stacy Sweet for the donation of a large
quantity of daybooks and other account books from the Saxe Store in the
hamlet. The books are from
Lafayette Merrihew 1854 to 1904, and George H. Saxe 1904 to 1938. One book from 1850 that is believed to
be from the John H. Horton and Henry H. Horton original store keepers.
DonÕt forget that 2009 is the
Quadra Centennial Celebration of the exploration of Lake Champlain by Samuel de
Champlain.
