Supervisor Staub Spiegel called the 03/08/2010 Regular Town
Board meeting to order at 7:00 PM.
MINUTES
Councilor Donald Trombly made a motion that the minutes of the 02/08/2010 regular Town Board meeting be approved as submitted by the Town Clerk, seconded by Councilor Jerry Deno.

William Favreau reports:
Having received the cable renewal
contract and submitted a memo to the Town Board members noting what options
there were to be reviewed by the Board members before scheduling a public
hearing to renew the cable contract.
HIGHWAY SUPERINTENDENT REPORT
Highway
Supt. Richard Lewis reports:
á
That he will be attending a Highway Assoc. meeting on
Wednesday in an attempt to have the amount of chips money from the State
increased as the amount to be approved is said to be the same amount as last
year in the amount of $99,462.00.
á
The Highway men have been cutting and chipping brush
along several Town roads.
á
Master switches are being installed on trucks.
á
The amount of sand use is down from last year.
TOWN COUNCIL ITEMS
Councilor Christopher Latremore Discussed The Following With The Board:
á
Land use plan? Update – Planning board still
working on it.
á
Use of guard rails – some could be used along
North Farm Rd as well as along River St. Hwy. Supt. Lewis will get prices.
á
Update on valve to be installed in water line at
school. Sup Spiegel advises that still waiting for parts.
á
Assessment questions.
á
Any work to be done at Town Rec. parks this year.
– Sup. Spiegel, mainly painting.
á
The 1856 Survey map of Clinton County looks good on
the wall of the board room. Thanks to Robert Cheeseman, Town historian, for his
work on getting the map preserved and mounted.
Councilor Jerry Deno Discussed The Following With The Board:

Update on Pfizer. Still trying to locate a buyer.
á
If Beekmantown Central school will provide funds
toward resurfacing the tennis courts at the George E. Deno Memorial Park in
West Chazy. – Sup. Spiegel received call from Scott Amos of BCS
requesting the amount needed for resurfacing. They are working on new budget.
á
The Station CafŽ water leak repairs payment.
á
The possibility of the supervisor and codes officer
riding around Town to locate violations and notify the owners of them. –
Yes they would.
á
Furnace bill for the Chazy T/Hall. It was in need of
repairs as it failed to work several times.
á
Will be away for the next meeting.
Councilor Cathy Devins Discussed The Following With The Board:

J.C.E.O. interviews. – Presently interviewing a
subject from West Chazy.
á
Bath room upgrade.
á
Unallocated insurance – over budget? Added
unforeseen costs.

Condolences to Councilor TromblyÕs family at the loss
of their son in law.
Councilor Donald Trombly Discussed The Following With The Board:

Wish list. – Attempting to find out if left
over money can be used to reduce the debt.

SUPERVISOR ITEMS

Staub Spiegel reports:
á
Receiving information from Don Kelly of NYS DOT that
he was pursuing a joint repair of the RR underpass walls between the Town and
CN railroad.
á
The cost of repairing the two bathrooms in the Chazy
Town hall will be approx. $2,000.00 each. Board decided that the bath rooms
were not a priority.
á
Having been in contact with a retired engineer that
lives in town that will volunteer his services in drawing up plans for a new
entry that would include a new vault for the Chazy Town hall.
á
An old piano in the West Chazy Town hall needs to go.
Decided to go out for bid on the piano and other surplus items.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Chazy Town Board does hereby authorize the
Town Clerk to advertise, in Press-Republican, the official newspaper, a request
for sealed bids on the following surplus items:

- 20 horse power Ariens riding mower

– Konica copy machine model 7033 with stand

All items to be sold in Òas

and transportation of items. The items are available for inspection at the
Chazy Town Hall, 9631 State Route 9 Chazy, NY. Bids will be opened at the Town Board Meeting, Monday April
12, 2010 at 7:00 pm at the Chazy Town Hall.

club. May wait until next year as season is almost over.

County Legislator Report
Clinton County Legislator Tom Sears reported:
Having gotten a report on the 2009 sales tax and that it was
down by about $10,000.00. He explained how the County handles the budget when
the sales tax does not come in at the projected amounts.
CHAZY YOUTH HOCKEY
AGREEMENT FOR 2010

WHEREAS, it is required to have an agreement with the Chazy
Youth Hockey organization in order to provide funds;

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Chazy Town Board does hereby authorize the
Supervisor to enter into and sign an agreement with the Chazy Youth Hockey
organization to provide ice time for the youth of the Town of Chazy who wish to
free skate during the 2010/2011 calendar year at The ScottsÕ Memorial Rink
located at Macadam Road, for $3,000.00.

number for telephone, 35104.01.004.19 will change to the new number,
35104.01.004.21 for miscellaneous expenses.

SUPPORTING CHAZY PUBLIC LIBRARY NEEDS FOR RENOVATION OF NEW CHAZY PUBLIC
LIBRARY BUILDING

the Chazy Public library needs more space; and
WHEREAS, they have accepted Dr.
ClarkÕs medical office as the site for the future library;
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Chazy Town Board does hereby support the
Chazy Public Library moving to the new facility as it will provide expanded
meeting space for the community as well as enhanced internet facilities and
more shelf and display areas; and further
RESOLVED,
that the Town Board supports the Chazy Public Library in their need for a
capital fund drive and grant applications for the renovation of the new Chazy
Public Library building.
